Sporting Reformer Dan Rooney Remembered
Sport lost a true innovator and reformer on 13th April when Pittsburgh Steelers Chairman, Dan Rooney died aged 84.
The former US ambassodor to Ireland will also be remembered for the “Rooney Rule” that stipulates NFL teams must interview at least one minority candidate for general manager and head coaching vacancies. His passion for the game and the Steelers was witnessed first hand by the Opus team who met with him last summer at the Steelers HQ. His presence will be sorely missed by staff and fans alike but his stewardship of the franchise and values will always be treasured.
