The Opus team met up with British former WBC light-heavyweight champion, John Conteh, to capture his portrait for the WBC Greatest Fights Opus. Originally from Liverpool, John held the title from 1974 to 78 and was very much a popular champion.

John reminisced about his boxing career, fighting on the undercard to Muhammad Ali and the ups and downs of retiring from a sport he loved.

In between shooting John made the crew laugh with his jokes and even sang a Sinatra classic as he did on light entertainment shows back in the ‘70s.

He put that all aside to give Opus photographer, Zenon Texeira a hard, no-nonsense look for the camera which will appear in the Champions Gallery in the soon-to-be released WBC Greatest Fights Opus.
