Westwood hits Tokyo
Famous Japanese celebrities from the world of art, music and fashion were out in force to acclaim the Tokyo launch of Vivienne Westwood Opus and exhibition of the breathtaking 20×24” polaroids from this giant publication. This exclusive event on Friday 18 July 2008 attracted the likes of singers Nanase Aikawa and Miria Kato, fashion designers Don Konishi to Toshikazu Iwaya and jewellery designer Yoshiko kaitani, all eager to see the result of Westwood’s collaboration with Opus.
Held at the Zel Cafe/Gallery in the Art and Fashion complex in the Roppongi Hills, the exhibition displays 34 polaroids, specially selected by Westwood herself as her favourites from the 97 in this monumental publication. Invited guests and media representatives of Japan’s most influential magazines were wowed by the polaroids of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Bob Geldof, Tim Burton and other friends of Westwood. The nine editions of the Opus, each with their own bespoke cover designed by the British fashion icon, formed a stunning centrepiece for the event which introduced the 900 copy-limited edition to the city’s fashionistas.
This touring exhibition of the Vivienne Westwood Opus has reached one of the most vibrant cities in the world and the will continue at the Zel Cafe/Gallery until 23 August 2008 every day, between 10am and 10pm.
