The Official Major League Opus was front and center when stars from the world of baseball and entertainment gathered for the ninth annual ‘In the Spirit of the Game’ Sports and Entertainment Spectacular, benefiting the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. The star-studded event featured baseball’s elite as well as media mavericks and celebrities. The Official MLB Opus and MLB Networks were the co-sponsors of the PBSF, which provides support to all professional baseball scouts who have fallen on hard times. The mission of PBSF is to create a financial bridge for these scouts in need by generating funds from contributions of corporations, individuals, and their annual fundraising event. With the auction, the sponsors and the dinner tickets, serious money was raised for the scouts on this special night. The PBSF has grown into a national event, which warrants national media coverage and has raised millions of dollars for the foundation.
Surprise guest, Los Angeles Dodgers superstar, Matt Kemp, honored The Baltimore Orioles legendary Hall of Famer, Frank Robinson with the foundation’s ‘Player Lifetime Achievement’ award. Mr. Robinson arrived back stage later in the evening to view his profile in the MLB Opus, the world’s biggest and most definitive baseball publication ever created.
Over the past two years, The Official MLB Opus project has been one of the foundation’s biggest supporters and has also donated capital and goods to many other national charities related to Major League Baseball, including, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, RBI, Stand Up To Cancer, Jackie Robinson Day, The Hamels Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Foundation.
