Polaroids
Each Opus is characterised by stunning portraits taken on the rare Polaroid 20 x 24 Studio camera.
This huge piece of photographic equipment, 5ft high and weighing 235lb, uses a continuous roll of film rather than separate sheets. As the negative is destroyed in the process, each print is a genuine one-off. The patterning around the edge of the image (produced by the developing chemicals) and the distinctive sepia tinting (the result of deliberately using mismatched components), produces beautiful imagery which is totally original.
For The Official Formula 1 Opus, the Studio camera was brought over specially from Prague to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Zenon Texeira used this large-format photographic technology to portray Formula 1 personalities of the past and present as you’ve never seen them before.
